Objectives
of the course :
- linguistic : to learn and use proper vocabulary to talk, write and discuss about form
-historical : learn elements about Cézanne and modernist painting
-related to social art history : a work of art is always related to what preceeds and what comes next
-critical/methodological : understand the role of the teansnational circulations giving birth to art and culture
-understand how art history (and its narrative, modernism), are constructions, that are determined in specific contexts (Cezanne was praised as an abstract artist, a model, as the US needed to build an aesthetic narrative based on freedom)
